Project start COMPLETE

On January 01, 2014, the research project COMPLETE (CO2 post -injection monitoring and post- closure phase at the Ketzin pilot site) on geological storage of CO2 has started. The project has a duration of four years and continues the research at the Ketzin pilot site within the CO2MAN project which has been completed in December 2013. Central tasks of COMPLETE are further monitoring of the CO2 storage reservoir and the successive closure of all wells. The aim is to contribute after termination of CO2 injection with these activities further information on the behavior of the reservoir and to complete the entire life cycle of the CO2 storage facility in Ketzin.
The project is funded by the BMBF, industrial partners from Germany and abroad, CLIMIT (Norwegian R & D program ) and the GFZ. Within the project engineers and scientists from the fields of geology, geophysics, geochemistry and modeling of the GFZ are involved. In addition, a scientific cooperation with SINTEF in Trondheim, Norway is carried out.
