Pupils learned about research on CO₂ storage

For the second time GFZ staff from the Centre for Geological Storage CGSvisited the Marie-Curie gymnasium in Ludwigsfelde and the Weinberg gymnasium in Kleinmachnow.
At both schools pupils have the opportunity to experience current scientific topics via talks, hands-on experiments and workshops, once a year.
Additionally, information about apprenticeship and studying were given.

At this occasion, we discussed with the pupils the greenhouse effect, the idea of storing CO₂ in the underground and the research activities at the Ketzin pilot site.

At the end, the pupils could experiment with CO₂ and learn how a gas can be trapped in a porous rock.
